I looked at Meadowbrook (multiple times) for a family member. Everyone seemed so very nice and helpful.
Because of location, we chose another assisted living. But because we liked Meadowbrook so much we keep coming back. Michelle was so patient with us and her compassion and kindness was definitely one of the reasons we kept coming back. All of the residents seem happy and the establishment is very clean! I would definitely recommend it.
A beautiful facility, with compassionate staff. We received so much help and love from everyone during my grandpa’s stay there. You feel like you’re visiting someone in a friendly apartment complex rather than the standard image of a senior living facility. My family was so grateful to have found this place.
We moved our mother into Meadowbrook, kicking and screaming. She had lived in her own house for 50 (plus) years and, for the past decade, said: “I’ll leave this house only after I die.” Well, the choices she was making in her life this past year indicated she was gonna reach that date sooner than she thought. A better alternative for her was to move into a care facility.
We researched many options throughout the Conejo Valley but Meadowbrook was best for her. The place is beautiful and smells fresh every day. The residents (occupants/guests, etc.) were of a high-caliber intelligence and character. Many were happy to greet us and tell of their pleasant experiences. The management staff was easily accessible. The front desk is staffed with really nice people 24/7. The on-site medical staff is ready to assist, they have a traveling doctor that contracts with the facility, too. Plus, other experts (such as a podiatrist) are available. Located on the ground floor is a mani-pedicure specialist that has worked there for 16 years, also a very sweet hair stylist. The Head Chef is cordon-bleu trained and gets high scores from everyone. He really is sensational. I have lunch and/or dinner at their facility with my Mom several times a week. There are washers & dryer that residents can use free of charge (including free detergent). Also, the staff cleans the residents’ linens and towels weekly.
Meadowbrook is easily accessible in the very safe community of Agoura Hills, a block or two from the 101 Freeway. There is plenty of free parking with numerous shopping areas and walking trails that are, again, a block or two away. Daily activities are scheduled to strengthen the minds and souls of the residents. Family and friends are happily welcomed at any hour, day or night. No need to call ahead, you can make unexpected visits whenever you want. Oh, and they always have fresh coffee, tea and delicious cookies baked daily. Yes, family and friends can have these treats, adjacent to the front desk.
As I said, Mom was brought to Meadowbrook just a few months ago and was not happy to be leaving the independent-living at her house. But, four months later it is unimaginable that she would ever want to leave Meadowbrook. She has developed so many friendships with the other residents. She is spoiled at every turn of the corner, she is eating 3 healthy meals every day (and endless snacks if she wants). Her safety is priority #1 with the employees and the price structure there is flexible, it can be adjusted to the needs of almost any person. It provides progressive care based on the residents’ needs.
Maybe someday I will write an addendum to this novel. I can add a dozen pages on how the staff professionally responded during the recent Woosley Fire. Although the flames didn’t touch the Meadowbrook grounds or structure, it was impressive and a relief to see the heartfelt care that the employees displayed while transitioning the residents so compassionately to safer communities for a few days (until the flames & smoke dissipated).
Okay, that’s enough for now.
